Product Description
Even Ninjas need their sleep. For a Ninja, sleep is a time of renewal, contemplation, and rejuvenation. And when a Ninja sleeps, it is a very deep sleep. Most sleeping Ninjas can only be roused from slumber by another Ninja, which is a big problem if you are a Ninja, are tired, must wake up for a secret Ninja mission, and the only Ninja in your office. Good thing we found the Sonic Bomb Clock - it will wake even the soundest Ninja Nap. The Sonic Bomb Clock has an adjustable volume alarm with a maximum loudness of 113 decibels (just for reference, a jackhammer is about 100 decibels!) And the bed shaker does just that. Slip it under your mattress and your ears will bleed and your bed will shake, and there is no way you will oversleep. Or, you could turn the sound alarm off and tape the bed shaker to your office chair. You'll be vibrated awake without disturbing the drones. Then you can get back to your Ninja activity refreshed and ready for action.

Might work for others, but not for me March 7, 2010 Megan Larson (Albuquerque, New Mexico United States) I have had a horrible time with sleeping through my alarm and even multiple alarm clocks in different rooms (!) for years. I have tried many tricks for years to get myself awake reliably, and still nothing has worked. In desperation I tried this product, and I was hopeful. I tend to get used to the sound quickly and can sleep right through it, and over the years have learned to hit "snooze" or turn it off altogether while still asleep. I liked the fact that you can change the pitch, thinking that if I got used to one tone, I could switch it up a little and make it affect me again. Well, after a couple nights my brain fell into the same habit of hitting snooze as soon as the alarm goes off. I thought that the vibrating might be a different approach that could get through my sleeping brain, since it's more than just auditory, but after the first day I got used to it. I read that you can put it under your pillow instead of your mattress, but since the sound of the alarm already scares me half to death without actually waking up, it just contributes to that situation.
This alarm is loud and vibrating and startles the hell out of me, which makes me hit "snooze" as quickly as I possibly can, and then I'm instantly back asleep, despite the adrenaline rush. It makes for an uncomfortable, restless sleep, and waking up way later than I wanted to, as usual. This clock does not have the "fade" kind of alarm where it slowly gets louder and louder until it gradually brings you out of sleep, which seems to be the best result for me so far (though not totally successful, sadly), which seems to work better than the rapid, loud and violent sudden sound approach of this one, which just causes a fear response rather than a wakeful and comprehending state. I even tried hiding it from myself after setting it, hoping having to look for it a little might bring me to consciousness before turning it off, but my hand knew where to find that snooze button without a worry. I can actually hit snooze for hours without getting up or even just waking up enough to turn it off.
I guess for now I'll just keep on trying other clocks, having my husband call for hours, putting alarm clocks in other rooms, and being late to things.
Could definitely work for other people, but yet another failure for me.
Sonic boom alarm clock March 2, 2010 Doug Clay (Charleston SC USA) This is a great alarm clock for hard sleepers. I love the clock. The first one I bought died after 6 months or so. We couldn't get a hold of anybody at the company to see about repairing or replacing it. Although we do love the clock. You won't find a louder one! We bought another one as it's the only one we have found that gets my son up for work. Their customer service after the purchase leaves a bit to be desired though.
UNBELIEVABLE PRODUCT March 1, 2010 Cheryl S. Yarbrough (Georgia) My daughter nearly missed an exam at school - had set 2 alarms and slept through them both. I did online search, found the Sonic Boom and decided to try that. She received it very quickly on a Saturday and decided to test it out before school on Monday. She set the alarm and forgot about it. Was outside when it went off and she couldn't believe it was so loud she heard it all the way outside. I don't think there is any more danger of her sleeping through an exam. Sonic Boom is apparently very appropriately named!
This will wake you up February 25, 2010 Matthew C. Clodfelter (Hughesville, MD USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I've had a history of sleeping through alarm clocks. This past summer I lived with a few other people and they would come into my room in the morning and yell at me, because my old alarm would wake them up but I would sleep through it, despite the fact that it was positioned right next to my head.
While I do not believe this alarm reaches 113 decibels or that it is louder than a jackhammer, I will say that it is much louder than your standard alarm clock. The vibrator works very well and is guaranteed to wake up even the deepest of sleepers. You can put it under your mattress, which will cause the majority of it to vibrate, or you can place it against a solid object which will cause a loud vibrating noise. I opted to keep mine under my mattress.
Many people have posted that their units burned out or that it kept time incorrectly. This is because they failed to look at the directions. In the directions that come with the alarm clock there is information detailing a switch on the backside of the unit. It is labeled 24hrs 50hz, 12hrs 50hz, and 12hrs 60hz. This switch not only controls the time format(12 hour vs. 24 hour), but also controls the tuning of the internal electronics. In European countries, 24 hour time format is standard, and wall outlets alternating current runs at a frequency of 50hz. In America, most people use the 12 hour time format, and our electrical outlets operate at a frequency of 60hz. What this means is that if you have this switch in the wrong position, you run the chance of damaging your unit, and you will notice that the time will not be accurate(it says this in the manual).
The only thing that keeps this alarm from getting five stars is the face that I can't use the 24 hour time format. I live in the US but work on a military base and have become accustomed to the 24 hour time format.
tldr; This alarm will wake you up, just make sure to read the manual or you run the risk of incorrect time and a fried alarm clock.
Scary February 17, 2010 Caleb J. Ross (Poughkeepsie, NY, US) Im a very heavy sleeper and I needed something to get my adrenaline going in the morning so I wouldn't fall back asleep. The first time I used it I almost jumped out of bed thinking it was the fire alarm going off. The next day I had what I'd call a "Nightmare" about it going off and waking up 5 minutes before it actually went off. This thing works like a charm but I'd probably not suggest it to someone with heart conditions haha. This product gets 5 stars from me cause it works amazingly.
