5 out of 5 stars Great buy   March 1, 2010
Lydia McForge (Philadelphia, PA USA)
I needed an "old fashioned" cassette player in order to play the library audio cassette books for my pre-school aged daughter. After much research into both children's and regular recorders, this product offered the most features at a reasonable price. It not only plays cassettes with batteries or an adapter, but records with or without a microphone, and is very sturdy. I would recommend this as a very functional cassette player and recorder.

3 out of 5 stars RCA Cassette Recorder   November 12, 2009

I hoped for better music recording
The power on the take up reels is uneven
Has a low sensitivity to volume
Probably a more expensive one would
work better for recording music.

5 out of 5 stars It does to the job - it's not a studio.   October 12, 2009

I got this to take to court with me and play takes of previous hearings to a judge proving fraud on the other party. It is just your simple recording device, the microphone is nothing to get excited about, but that goes for anything regarding tapes anyway, right? It includes an AC adapter, which is great and doesn't require too much in battery power for portable use. The sound quality is what one would reasonably expect from a cassette recorder. After using it in court, I now have it hooked up to Phone Line Recorder Telephone Record Voice Spy Monitor to record my calls (Court is still very much in progress). This works wonderfully with the telephone recorder. The cassette player has mic-in and speaker-out jacks so you don't have to rely on the included microphone or on-board speaker. Overall, good product - good price.

I am absolutely happy with the purchase of this cassette recorder. I had shopped around at my local stores, and
found nothing of this quality for the price. I would recommend this product to anyone.

1 out of 5 stars Poor Recording Quality   August 3, 2009
Kevin D. Horn (Nebraska)
This recorder did not meet my standards. It plays back professionally produced audio tapes just fine, but recording quality is bad. I tested both the condenser mic and used two different hand-held microphones, as well as three different tapes, and the recording quality is bad.
